"Writing about the future, I have a vested interest in there being a future for me to write about."
- John Brunner

Taprisiot Monitor Bead
A small bead to be swallowed that allowed the thoughts of a person to be transmitted and recorded during a specified interval.

It is not clear from the text whether this is a natural product (something extruded by a taprisiot) or an artifact.

He'd have his own Taprisiot link sitting safely here, while he went out and risked his vulnerable flesh.
Technovelgy from The Dosadi Experiment, by Frank Herbert.
Published by Berkley Putnam in 1977

Getting a monitor is not a good sign; typically, it was assumed that the bead would be activated upon your impending death, so all of the details could be transmitted to your parent agency.

Read more about taprisiot monitors.

Compare to the ingestible communication capsule from E.E. 'Doc Smith's 1934 novel Triplanetary.
